Cardi B is finally back. Over the weekend, multi-platinum rap star and CENTERFOLD creative director announced her new single “Hot Shit” will be releasing this Friday (Jul. 1st). Produced by Tay Keith, she announced it during the BET Awards and confirmed the release date via social media.
“Hot Shit” will mark the “WAP” rapper’s first single since 2021’s “Up,” which upon release, debuted at #2 on the Hot 100. In July, the record was 2X RIAA-certified platinum, joining several other of her hit songs. Meanwhile, the accompanying video has gained over 230 million views on YouTube as expected. Since then, Cardi went on quite a prolific feature run, appearing on Lizzo’s hit track “Rumors,” Normani’s “Wild Side,” and Migos’ “Type Shit.”
Earlier this year, Cardi B made an appearance on Summer Walker and SZA’s “No Love” remix. She also returned to her New York roots on Kay Flock’s “Shake It” alongside Dougie B and Bory300. This year is slated to be a very special one for the rapper as she prepares her eagerly-awaited sophomore album.
