Camila Cabello Taps Ed Sheeran For “Bam Bam” Video

Celebrating her 25th birthday, global singer-songwriter Camila Cabello enlists fellow musician Ed Sheeran for her latest music video “Bam Bam.” Throughout the song, Camila seemingly addresses her breakup with Shawn Mendes, reminiscing on the first time they met and how things have changed present time.

In the song, she sings, “You said you hated the ocean, but you’re surfin’ now / I said I’d love you for life, but I just sold our house.” The lyrics nod to Mendes posting photos on Instagram following his breakup with Cabello, despite saying that his “biggest fear is deep water” in a 2020 interview with Jimmy Fallon. Elsewhere, she sings about selling her Hollywood Hills three-story villa this past December, which took place a month after the pair’s falling out.

“Bam Bam” comes ahead of Camila Cabello’s third studio album aptly titled Familia. The 12-song project will contain features from WILLOW, Yotuel, and Maria Becerra while previously heard songs like “Don’t Go Yet” and “La Buena Vida,” the latter of which was performed for the first time via NPR’s Tiny Desk. “There’s definitely some surprises on the album, perspectives people haven’t heard me come from before, things I haven’t talked about before,” she shares speaking on the forthcoming project. “And sonically, a whole new kind of landscape for me that draws on a lot of my roots, I’m Cuban-Mexican. Drawing from my childhood.”

Camila Cabello’s latest string of singles marks a new era for the songstress. Watch the music video for “Bam Bam” featuring Ed Sheeran below.
