beabadoobee Releases Her Second Studio Album ‘Beatopia’

Beatopia, the eagerly-awaited sophomore album from Filipino-British singer-songwriter beabadoobee, is finally out today. After releasing pre-release singles “See You Soon,” “Talk,” and “Lovesong,” the 14-song project traverses across multiple genres and sees the artist becoming more comfortable in her own.

The opening cut sets the tone for the project with a lone verse that threads along the next song, “10:36,” named after the time bea finished the record. Meanwhile, “Sunny Day” transitions into a more R&B-tinged record complemented by a pop-like hook while “Perfect Pair” is a rather personal record that details the respective person that reminds the singer of herself. Other songs like “Picture of Us,” “Fairy Song,” and the closing track “You’re Here That’s The Thing” perfectly loop the project together into an enjoyable listening experience for fans alike.

Beatopia arrives just over a year removed from her 2021 EP, Our Extended Play, which spawned singles like “Last Day On Earth” and “Cologne” among others. Produced by Matthew Healy of The 1975, the project continued to build on her alt-pop sound and further cemented her fanbase. Prior to that, beabadoobee shared her debut album Fake It Flowers in 2020, serving as a playful collection of songs the musician wrote when she was 17. It laid the groundwork for not only her vocal prowess and songwriting abilities, but this current album as well.

Elsewhere in music, Brooklyn-based singer-songwriter Anna Shoemaker shares “I’m Your Guy.”
