Chicago-based R&B singer Ann Marie graces fans with her latest full-length project, Pain Never Looked This Good. The double release, split between rap and R&B, marks the songstress’ first album since leaving Interscope Records.
“Pain Never Looked This Good is really a self-explanatory title,” the singer-songwriter shares. “It means exactly that! Growing up on the south side of Chicago with seven siblings and a single mother was just half the battle. I’ve literally been through so much, but somehow I always made that shit look good. No matter what or how bad I was hurting, I never let it stop me from becoming who I knew I was destined to be.”
Both projects are comprised of nine songs with the R&B release boasting features from G Herbo, Tink, and Lil Tjay. Meanwhile, the rap album includes guest appearances from Pretty Savage and Big Boogie. Pain Never Looked This Good serves as a follow-up to Marie’s 2021 deluxe album Hate Love, which helmed songs like “Yo Body” and the Chris Brown-assisted “Check For Me.” It marked the final project to fulfill her contract with Interscope and Geffen Records, hopefully starting a new era for the singer.
Ann Marie adds, “I always say It ‘feels like I’ve lived several lives all at once’ and that’s what these two albums are about, letting the listeners into my world a little bit. Touching on subjects I’ve never thought I would, really opening myself up and testing my creativity. With these two albums, I’m taking my voice back and finally becoming the artist I want to be!”
